FESA DISPLAYS
The Kelmscott Annual Show will be more than rides and show bags with fire fighters on hand to explain how people can prepare their homes and protect their families during bush fires at the Fire and Emergency Services Marquee.
Local residents will be able to talk to career and volunteer fire fighters on how to develop a bush survival fire plan. Information about the Fire & Emergency Services Authority Prepare, Act and Survive bushfire preparedness program will be available to assist residents when making the decision on whether they should stay and defend their properties or go early in the event of a bushfire. Other messages that local fire fighters will be promoting are Bushfire Ready, Seniors Home Fire Safety,10 Steps to Home Fire Safety, Smoke Alarm options for the Hearing Impaired, Home Fire Safety including 2 Ways Out and Safe and Secure.
The City of Armadale will also be offering information about alternatives to burning vacant land, prohibited burning periods, burning restrictions in residential areas, firebreaks and other messages important to residents of this area.
The Armadale State Emergency Service will have information as well as volunteers available to speak about how to prepare your homes in the event of a storm.
The recent bush fires in 2010 which destroyed numerous properties highlights the need for local residents living close to the bush to prepare their properties and have a bushfire survival plan prior to summer.
"Local fire fighters are asking those people who are concerned about bushfires and don't have a bushfire survival plan to take a bit of time to come and visit us at the Show."
Armadale State Emergency Service, Bedfordale Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, Roleystone Volunteer Fire and Services and Armadale Career and Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service will be located at the FESA marquee throughout the day.
