Saturday Attractions

Saturday 22nd Oct. - 9am to 9pm.

Saturday guarantee's a fun day for all the family especially the little ones. With over 100 years history of rural life, the Kelmscott Annual Show really lives up to its reputation and provides a wonderful variety of animals.  Exhibiting and judging of dairy goats, cattle, sheep, rabbits, cavies, donkeys, mules, pigeons, poultry and the ever popular children's farmyard nursery provides everyone with a touch of living the country life.    There are also sheep shearing demonstrations throughout the day as well as reptile and raptor displays.  The horses in action on the lower arena allow local riders to enter into hacking in an Official Ring or an Unofficial Ring.

Sideshow, Trade and General Stalls (9am to 9pm):

07_Sideshow_01.JPGCome and enjoy the ever popular sideshow rides and games on the main oval.  All of the usual favourites will be there for both the big and small kids.  This year there will be additional rides for the young kids outside of sideshow alley.

There will be a variety of food and general stalls this year and for the first time in many years, a special Trade Stall area will be on the main oval.  Please view all the stall holders that wil be at the show this year on the food stall list, variety stall list and trade stall list.

Craft Market on River Flats (9am to 6pm)

07_Grounds_Craft_02.JPGTake a stroll along the banks of the Canning River on Saturday and view and purchase items from the various Arts and Crafts stalls. You will also find a number of children's rides for the little ones.

For the kids we also have camel rides and pony rides to keep the young ones entertained while the parents show.

The Kids DIY Pink Cupcakes Decoration event proudly supporting the Cancer Council WA's Pink Ribbon Day is from 10.30am to 12pm (more information here.)

There will also be demonstrations in the Exhibition Hall. In the Photography Section there will be a Heritage Display on Kelmscott from the Kelmscott Heritage Group.  This will centre on the River Road Area around the Showgrounds including the Crossing (Cnr of River Road and Fancote Street, St Mary in the Valley Church, Old School, Showgrounds, Betsy Buckingham and many other houses in River Road. 

Schools Pavilion - (9am to 8:30pm):

The Co-ordinating School for 2011 is Kingsley Primary School.  The following schools will have displays:

Primary School Poster Competition

The poster competition was run in 3rd term to the theme "Life On The Land Incorporating The Circle Of Life".  All participants will have their posters displayed either in or around Kelmscott, or at the Show. The Primary School Poster Competition is proudly sponsored by Ones4PC.

Baby Change / Mother's Rest Area Provided by Communicare

Communicare is providing a baby change area and rest area for mothers on the grass area near the School's Pavilion. Staff will also be available offering information and support if needed.

Senior Citizens Rest Area

Come relax at the Senior Citizens rest area located near the School Pavilion and enjoy a cuppa provided by the Girl Guides.  This Senior Citizens Rest Area is proudly sponsored by COTA.

Jack Daniels Licensed Bar

Located at the Old Pool Site proudly sponsored by Brown-Forman Australia.

Free Armadale Steel and Industrial Supplies Showground Train (10am to 5pm):

07_Grounds_General_07.JPGCome and hop on the FREE Saturday Showground Train and have a tour of the showgrounds on this free service.  This train operates until 5pm and follows a designated route around the grounds. Sponsored by Armadale Steel and INdustrial Supplies.

Flower Pavilion- (9am to 6:30pm):

Pigeon & Poultry Pavilion - (10:30am to 5:00pm):

The Poultry sections on display include Standard Display Pairs - Water Fowl - Large Game - Standard Heavy Breed - Standard Light Breed - Bantam Display Pairs - Bantam Game - Soft Feathered Light Breed Bantam - Soft Feathered Heavy Breed Bantam.
The Pigeon sections on display include True Pair (Cock and Hen) - Fancy Classes - Utility Classes - Show Pen Homers - Working Homers Racing - Flown Class.

Judging commences at 8am.

Children's Farmyard Nursery - (9am to 5:00pm):

08_Animals_AnimalFarm002_resize.jpgSponsored by City Farmers Kelmscott.  Competitive display in the Children's Farmyard Nursery.  Entries could include the following classes: Female and Progeny - Guinea Pigs - Mice - Car or Kitten - Puppy or dog - Bird in cage - Fish - Crazy crab - Any other pet small or large.  The actual entries or pets will depend on what is entered.  Judging commences at 11am.

Animal Displays - (9am to 5:00pm):

• 9am to 5pm - Raptor Display (Birds of Prey) by Terry High from the Society for the Preservation of Raptors

• 9am to 5pm - The Old MacDonalds Farmyard Nursery

Horses in Action (9am to 5:00pm):

08_Animals_Horses067_resize.jpgCome and watch the competitors compete in Hacking in an Official Ring or an Unofficial Ring on the lower oval. Proudly sponsored by Horseland Maddington the event is conducted in conjunction with the Wallangarra Pony Club (Inc).  Please note that there is an alternative wet weather venue which may be used depending on the ground condition of the arena all enquires to the KAS Office telephone.

The encouragement ring will commence approximately 1pm after the official hacking. 

Cavies (9am to 5:00pm):

08_Animals_Cavies001_resize.jpgExhibition staged by Cavy West and located on the river flats.  Please note that if the forecast for the Show day according to the 6pm news on the Monday prior to the Show is to exceed 33 deg C, the Cavy Section will be cancelled.  Competitive displays in the following groups: Marked - Ticked - Crested - Coursecoat - Satin - Self - Longhair - Unstandardised - Pets.  Judging commences at 10am.

Dairy Goats (9am to 4:45pm):

08_Animals_Goats106_resize.JPGCompetitive displays in a variety of dairy goats classes and located on the lower oval near the Flowers Pavilion.

Judging commences at around 9:30 am and runs for several hours.  Milking occurs as part of the judging process and depending on numbers, will occur around 10:30am to 11am.  There is also bottle feeding of kids around midday which is terrific for small children who get to participate.  A display of goat kids will also be on show from 9am to 4:45pm

Donkey and Mules (9am to 5:00pm):

Competitive displays in the following groups: In hand classes - Junior Classes - Working / obstacle donkey / Mule classes (in hand) - Ridden Classes.  The Donkeys and Mules are located between the tennis courts and the Caravan park above the lower oval.  Judging commences at 10am.

Rabbits (9am to 5:00pm):

08_Animals_Rabbits003_resize.jpg"Two Star Show", exhibition staged by Ozwest Rabbit Club.  Please note that if the forecast for the Show day according to the 6pm news on the Monday prior to the Show is to exceed 33 deg C, the Rabbit Section will be cancelled.  Competitive displays in the following groups: Fancy - LOP - FUR - Rex - Mini Rex - Utility Animals - Companion Challenge - Best Owner Breeder in Show.  Judging commences at 10am.

Sheep (9am to 5pm):

Cattle (9am to 5pm):
